Flu and cold advice leaflet distributed across UK

The Proprietary Association of Great Britain (PAGB) and the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) have jointly published a new leaflet, "The battle against flu and colds". A million copies of the leaflet have been delivered to pharmacies and GP surgeries across the UK.

Preparing for a second wave of A(H1N1) Swine flu

The World Health Organisation is advising countries in the northern hemisphere to prepare for a second wave of A(H1N1) Swine flu spread. The Department of Health has published revised planning assumptions relating to the pandemic.

Swine flu is one variant of influenza for which there is no vaccine currently available, though it is anticipated to arrive in the autumn. In the UK, supplies will be available only though the NHS.
